Negotiating With Wedding Vendors

Negotiating With Wedding Vendors: Stick to It!
Wedding vendors are a process on their own, but trying to get more out of them for the same rate of pay is another. Although you may not be able to squeeze out a whole cup of lemonade, you may be able to get a little more to spice up your event. In other words- donít expect a lot.

Before you try to negotiate with your wedding vendors, it is best to try your negotiation skills at garage sales, flea markets or other situations. By doing this you will get practice and feel confidant when you approach your vendors.
Before you can negotiate, you will need to know what the going rate is for everything; from the rate per hour of the actual wedding vendors themselves all the way to the wine, decorations, and so on that they will be using. Do your homework so you do not get snowed over with prices that are aimed too high. Instead, call around for quotes, ask questions and most of all, see what fees they are willing to waive. You might find that some extras such as table sashes, and extra hour of time and more could be added in as a bonus.
Most important of all, you need to stick to your budget. Like a car salesman, some wedding vendors will let you think you are getting a good deal on one thing and stick it to you with something else. If nothing else, ask for a deal. Always remember that competition is fierce and they are trying to earn your business.

Lean Wedding Appetizer Ideas

Lean Wedding Appetizer Ideas

Many people are watching what they eat as well as staying physically fit. For those on this path, including the bride and groom, you will want to serve lean wedding appetizers.
Skewers filled with antipasto are always a good choice for a summer wedding. For a more formal wedding try putting basil oil over a small ball of mozzarella and olive. These are not only on the lighter side, but they are very tasty.
Wraps are very popular with people of all ages. Try doing different types of wraps. Some can be done in wheat, pita style, lettuce wraps and more. Chicken is usually the choice for wraps; however, you can also throw some shrimp as well.
For a sweet treat try using Crostini variations. These are simply thinly sliced bread that is toasted. You can top them with pecans, honey, oil, plain and more. They can also be served with a soup for an added touch.
Fruit is another great option along with fresh vegetables. Turn the normal vegetable dish layout into something that fits your theme. This will keep it more visually appealing while still providing a traditional appetizer. Fruit placed in decorative bowls or containers is always a hit as well.
Choosing a light wedding appetizer menu does not have to be a drawback but more of a celebration. And gone are the notions that eating healthy costs more. It will cost just about the same and you will be eating healthy and staying lively at the wedding rather than having heavy foods sloshing around in your stomach making you tired.

Knowing the Right Time to Propose

Proposals: Knowing the Right Time to Propose

When a guy proposes to a woman, there was no set or defined moment prior to the thought of this act. With that said, you will know the right time to propose-when it happens.
Moments are what catch our lives and gives it those twists and turns that we live for. Some of them are good and some of them are not so favorable. When you come to that time when your life stops and the only thing you can keep focus on in that fleeting moment that felt like eternity is the woman you are looking at- you will know it is time.
Unfortunately, or fortunately as you will find out, there is no set time when you are supposed to propose to a woman. Some people meet and feel as though they are ready to take those next steps only weeks later. For many of us though, we need time to understand the person, get to know them and develop a bond of trust and love.
In the moment when everything is suspended and you propose to a woman, she will feel it too if it is meant to be. So essentially, the right time to propose to a woman is really anytime. The best thing to do is not get so caught up in your mind but rather let your heart do the deciding. As we all know, the best things that happen are from the heart.

Hiring a Florist for Your Wedding

Tips: Hiring a Florist for Your Wedding

A florist is a huge part of a wedding. They not only decorate the wedding location, but also supply the bride with a beautiful bouquet. This means choosing the right florist is essential when planning your wedding.
You can eliminate the ìfake floristsî from the true florists by examining the following about them.
1   Do they have their own delivery trucks? If not, that is a good sign that they rely on third parties to help them. Not only is this not as reliable, it also tends to be a lot more expensive. 2    What is their main function? Make sure you are not dealing with a party planner. They may be good at planning a bachelorette party, however, weddings are high stress and they will usually crumble under pressure.
Before you choose a florist, you should ask for recommendations from friends, family, co-workers and more. Utilize your sources. You may even be able to get a discount if your sibling knows a florist. You can also save money by understanding all the charges that will occur. Some florist lay everything out with no hidden charges but there are some that will charge a little money for everything and it adds up fast. In the contract make sure it is all laid out clearly.
In general, you need to make sure your florist is on the same page as you. You want someone with a proven track record and have a passion for what they do.

Fall Wedding Options

Fall Wedding Options

Fall weddings are beautiful because during the season change, the environment around us changes as well. In turn, this makes for a wonderful backdrop for photos and gathering.
You can capture the season in your Fall wedding with fun wedding favors. What would fall be without caramel apples? You can package caramel apples in a plastic covering for each person or in a box. Whichever you choose, you can decorate them how you like with ribbon, etc.
Like a Fall carnival, you can have candied pecans and almonds handed out to your guests toward the end of the evening as a thank you. This sweet treat will be a warm welcome for those who attended and really capture the Fall wedding essence.  Another sweet idea is to place apple butter in mini jars, decorate them and hand them out to guests as wedding favors.
Create the mood with strategically placed lighting. The fall season, although filled with some bright colors is seen as warm and inviting despite some area temperatures. Create that warm feeling with dimmed lighting along with chandeliers. Spark up the area with bright accents as well as metallic accents such as copper.
Fall flowers are some of the most beautiful around. This is because they are richer in colors, thicker and have different textures about them. Choose a structured bouquet that is tightly packed for a crisp and clean finish to a brides wedding attire.
Keeping up with the changing season for a Fall wedding is heartwarming and special.

Dont Forget the Wedding Extras

Dont Forget the Wedding Extras!
Just when you thought the wedding planning, decisions and surprises were over, you have the wedding extras! These extras can include vendor pricing to mishaps with the wedding dress.
To smooth out any bumps on wedding day, a bag should be packed that has all the incidentals such as band-aids,  water bottle, dental floss, oral pain reliever such as aspirin, eye drops, extra backs for earrings, hem tape, matches, safety pins, scissors, clear nail polish for runs in the stockings, etc. Try to think of anything that could go wrong like a mark on the wedding dress (which can be fixed with chalk) or the bride getting teary eyed (the need for tissues).
Wedding extras creep up on you fast and the best thing to have is preparation. What if your reception goes longer than expected? If you want your DJ or band there, prepare to pay extra overtime charges.
Before you sign a contract with the florist, make sure there are no little extras for the wedding day. The main wedding extra when it comes to florist is the delivery/set up charge or tips. Work this out with your florist beforehand.
If you are having outdoor wedding photos, make sure you plan for anything. The most common is a rain storm. If there is no lightening, you can always take your wedding pictures under an umbrella. A black and white photo with the bride and groom walking under an umbrella makes a wonderful time piece.
Wedding extras are those that you do not expect. If something has a chance of going ìwrongî, count on the fact that it will; If it doesnít, great. But if it does, you will be ready for it.

Creative Wedding Centerpiece Ideas

Creating wedding centerpieces does not have to be hard nor expensive. In some cases, they most elegant centerpieces are the ones that are the most simplistic.
1.     A fun wedding centerpiece idea is to get mini mailboxes and decorate them in the theme of the wedding. In the center include a couple of pens and paper where the guests can leave notes to the bride and groom. You may also want to include a short message on why the pens and paper are there.
2.    A beautiful glass bowl with a beta fish, floating flowers and a mirror underneath could make for a great wedding centerpiece for a tropical wedding and more.
3.    For an elegant touch, try putting either a pillar or molded candle on top of a mirror as a wedding centerpiece. You can then add ivy, flowers and more around the base as well as up the candle. You may even want to include a heart locket as well.
4.    A picture is worth a thousand words. Put an elegant frame with pictures of the couple in the center of the table surrounded by flowers, flora, candles and more. You could also frame a biblical verse or even a love poem.
5.    For the fun loving couple, put a board game in the center of the table. It is a great ice breaker as well as something to do during a reception.
Whichever wedding centerpiece you choose at your wedding reception, always remember to stick with your theme. There are many ways you can get creative- you just have to step outside the box.

Creating a Fair Guest List for Your Wedding

Creating a Fair Guest List for Your Wedding

Sitting down to create your guest list might be challenging on both the bride and the grooms behalf. Depending on your budget, you might need to be very cautious of the amount of people you invite.
One of the biggest problems that arise when making a guest list for a wedding is when one person has a larger family than the other. In this case, it may seem like one side is getting more support than the other. This should be talked about openly, even if it is not mentioned by the other party.
The first step when making a guest list should be to include the family of both people first. Start with immediate family and work out to distant family. Do not forget those that live in a separate state or the ones you have not talked to in a little while. Although you may not keep contact with them regularly, they are still family.
When it comes to friends, select the closest ones first. In the case where letís say the bride has more family members than the groom, the groom might have more friends. Typically, it balances out in the end.
Make sure you consider people that have a conflict of interest. If you invite people with conflicts of interest because they both are important to be there, make sure you place them far apart when working on seating arrangements.
Creating a fair guest list for your wedding will go just fine if you follow a specified path of the most important.

Choosing Your Maid of Honor: Take Your Time

So he has just asked you to marry him and you said Yes! If you didnít you wouldnít be here! You are very excited, for a lack of better words, and you want to get the ball rolling. After all, there is so much that needs to be done, right?
Before you get too ahead of yourself and make some quick decisions, you need to think about the outcome. When it comes to your Maid of Honor, this is especially true. Below are some great suggestions when choosing your Maid of Honor as well as your complete bridal party.

1.    Jumping to selecting your bridal party is a common mistake of many women. When this happens they automatically pick the people that are currently around them. The bride to be does not stop and take the time to think about the people that may be out of state or friends that have been by their side for years. It is easy to get up in the excitement but the result could be disastrous. You may end up with people that you have not known for very long and you think are friends that end up fighting or causing drama.
2.    Before you select your bridal party you will want to look at conflicts between people, people who expect you to ask them, those who do not work well with others and more. Pick a group of people that you are close too as well as meld well together. They will be your support so make sure they will be there and not at each otherís throats.
3.    Choose a Maid of Honor Based on the above as well as the person you have known the longest and can confide in. One who offers input but respects your decisions.
