Wedding Cake Designs That Are Not So Traditional
Traditional wedding cakes are always a beautiful site but with todayís modern world, we are seeing more and more wedding cakes that are taking on a unique style of their own. With different color combinations, designs and structure, wedding cakes have really taken the spotlight as the receptions star.
Inspiration for these cakes comes in all walks of life. From ornate designs carried out in black and white to simple but elegant light green modular squares, designs have a broad range of sleek and chic. Modular designs give way to creative masterpieces.
Bursts of color such as a wide variety of blues, yellows, greens, pinks and oranges have come onto the scene. This is often very popular in summer weddings and natural tones are usually seen in fall. The one thing that remains consistent with the newer color choices is an almost complete absence of white.
Unlike the traditional 2 or three tier cakes, the more modern cakes are sometimes higher, wider or narrower. There are some cakes that are designed in a completely different structure such as a spherical shape or other 3 dimensional shapes.
Choosing to have a wedding cake that is not the traditional white cake with embellishments is your choice. It is not uncommon for the couple to match their wedding cake to the wedding reception dÈcor. Often times this is actually the inspiration for the different shapes, sizes and colors that are seen in the wedding cake.
