Wedding Invitations: What Do I Need?
Wedding invitations, also known as wedding stationary are one of those items that can easily go over budget on. This is because people usually get either way more then they need or opt for things that seem like they might make it easier.
Wedding stationary you cannot live without include an invitation suite, escort cards and thank you cards. All the other stationary will be nice, but not a necessity.
Some wedding invitation stationary you can let go by the wayside if you are having a small or intimate wedding are a program, place cards, menu cards and favor tags.
Typically, unless you are having a larger wedding, all the extras are not needed. The place cards are designed for larger weddings where the bride and groom want people to mingle. Moreover, the escort cards are already letting them know their placement. The programs are great usually when you are having a wedding with unknown customs. This can be used as a tool to guide people in participation.  Menu cards are only necessary for those giving the option for the choice in food. Many food stations are set up buffet style. In this case, labels can be placed at each food stop along the buffet.
In general, you need to have the invitations to invite the guests, guide them to where they need to go and then thank them for coming and their gift. When you eliminate all the other extras, wedding invitations are really not that bad!
