Wedding Costs: What You Should Expect
Wedding costs can add up quickly. To make sure you do not go over your budget, you need to know what to expect when it comes to the different aspects of planning a wedding and the wedding costs associated with them.
The information below is a general outline on the percentage amount that should be allotted to each category:
The reception is the largest part of the wedding budget. This wedding cost is large because a lot is included such as the venue/site, food and beverage, linens, utensils, flatware, chairs and tables, charges for services along with tips and tax. 48-50% of the wedding budget should be allotted to reception costs.
Wedding Attire: This includes what the bride and groom will be wearing. Wedding dress, Tuxedo, shoes, jewelry, and any other accessories are all part of this section. This will take roughly 13-15% of the budget.
Another portion of the wedding costs, roughly 10%-12% will be doled out in flowers. About 9-10% should be spent on photography and aspects such as rentals and miscellaneous wedding costs should be kept to around 3% of the total wedding budget each.
The entertainment or DJ will be another necessity that will average out to about 8-10% of the wedding costs. This is an area where you might be able to save in depending on who you know, what deals are out there, etc.
Do not forget about the bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts as well as the transportation and stationary. Those will run you about 2% each of your total budget.
