One of the most important parts of a wedding ring is the cut and materials used. The traditional wedding ring consists of diamonds and gold. More recently, or for a couple that is not as traditional, you will see anything from a diamond with sapphires, emeralds, gems alone and other variations. The bands are also made out of other metals such as silver, platinum and white gold.
Before you get a wedding ring, you need to check the cut. You will be able to inquire about ring cuts and figure out what your partner likes best. You can usually tell this by looking at other jewelry. You can make off handed comments about the style of a ring and see what kind of response is given. That's what my fiance did and I never knew until after he proposed!

I was reading this and you are so right. There are tons of different rings. I was amazed actually on how many different cuts and all that were actually available. They really don't make this ring picking out easy for the guy! Also, I have never heard of a wedding ring being anything but a diamond. That seems kind of strange to me. I guess I would be considered a "traditional" guy I guess.
Does anyone know the average price of a ring. I know they have a lot of different prices, but what about just an "average ring". I guess what I am really asking is, what is a good price point for a typical wedding ring that is good quality and not made cheap.
