It is very important that you keep contact with each vendor through the time you have established contact with them. Basically, you need to keep up on them because it is known that things happen. It is unfortunate that things happen, but you do not want it to be your wedding that things happen. This is especially true for the cake. Often times cake designers forget to double check what they have for the week. This could pose problems with ordering supplies, etc. It could just so happen that your cake requires a certain material that they just ran out of! Even worse, maybe they didn't staff enough people that day. This is especially true for smaller cake decorators. Other vendors you should check with are your photographer and flower shop.
